Open Water Certification Part 1
The Part 1 session of the Open Water course consist of academics and two days of skill training in the pool.
The Open Water Diver certification course at Underwater Adventures is the entry-level certification program for the first step towards your basic scuba diving. We offer the Open Water Certification in two parts. At the completion of this 2 Part program, you will receive your PADI Open Water Certification Card, the most popular and most recognized certification in the world.
Prerequisites:
- You must be at least 10 years old to enroll
- Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving. You will also be required to complete a 200 yard swim and 10 mins of treading water"
- Cost: Part 1 Course - $399 (pool sessions)
- Add on: eLearning - $215 (Required) (academics will be an add-on once you add the course to cart)
- Add on: Log Book - $34.80 (required for course)
** If you have already purchased your online academics through PADI - skip the academics and add on your log book, please. We will have access to your academics.
** You will also be required to purchase your personal scuba gear (mask, snorkel, boots & fins) all other equipment is included.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Through a combination of academic work, in-water pool sessions and lake skills (check out dives), you will learn how to become a safe, confident, and capable scuba diver. We will help you develop your skills so you can see more and do more underwater and have a great experience while diving on your vacation.
PROGRAM CONSISTS OF 2 PARTS
- Part 1 - Academics (12-15 hours at home) and pool sessions that are completed during a single weekend. (2 full days) here at Underwater Adventures Dive Center in our own heated pool.
- Part 2 - is the Open Water certification dives where you demonstrate your skills in an open water environment, such as a lake, quarry or Ocean. (2 full days) Done in Pennsylvania. PART 1 – ACADEMICS AND POOL
► PART 1 - ACADEMICS
Academics are done online through PADI eLearning at home on your computer and consists of 5 knowledge reveiws with quizes and final exam. It is very interactive and good for all ages. ** Academics take approximately 12-15 hours to complete and must be completed prior to your scheduled class. Once your course is paid, you will receive your online eLearning academics from PADI by email.
► PART 1 - POOL SESSIONS
Here’s where you experience what it’s like to scuba dive! You’ll learn how to use scuba equipment and develop diving skills in a safe and fun environment. We go at your pace and make it an experience that you’ll never forget. You will come in on Saturday/Sunday morning at 10:00 am for a quick quiz, go over equipment and have afternoon pool sessions. All while preparing you for the Open Water Part 2 Certification dives.
- You are required to purchase a logbook, so instructors can log your progress, training dives and skills.
- You will also be required to purchase your personal scuba gear (mask, snorkel, boots & fins) all other equipment is included.

Once your course is paid – we will send you your online academics. There will be a medical and waivers to sign online with your academics and you can add a picture to your PADI profile.
We will send out reminder emails with more details to prepare you for your Part 1 pool sessions.
► PART 2 - CHECK OUT DIVES
To complete your certification, you will need to participate in a PART 2 course which includes four dives over two days.
- All your equipment is included (except your mask, snorkel, boots & fins) which you should have
- This training is completed at a Lake or Quarry
- This course will have travel expenses.
- Pre-registration is required.
** At the completion of this program you will receive your PADI Open Water Diver Certification
