HISTORY ~ UADC Womens Dive Day ~
This year marks the 10th anniversary of PADI Women's Dive Day and the 6th anniversary of UADC's PADI Women's Dive Day. Bridget Neary and J. Elizabeth Clark have been hosting the event for the shop since 2016. Our first event was held at the former Dutch Springs. The early years focused on encouraging more women to get into diving and creating a supportive dive community. As women divemasters and now instructors in the northeast, Bridget and Liz know that sometimes diving here can be intimidating. The PADI Women's Dive Day event is focused on providing women with a space to become more confident about local diving. Part of our dive day also includes sharing information about women pioneers in diving and topics specific to women divers such as whether or not specialized gear is necessary (spoiler alert: almost never!).
More recently, our PADI Women's Dive Day events have focused on conservation, a topic both Bridget and Liz are passionate about. Our more recents PADI Women's Dive Days have been in Belmar, NJ at Maclearie Park. We've focused on Dive Against Debris, giving back to the ocean by removing debris.
This year, we'll return to Maclearie Park for another Dive Against Debris. Our event is a bit later than others, but we'll still have a great time! We hope you'll join us for a fun day, a great dive, community, prizes, food, and more!
